At Red Apple Academy, our preschool experience is designed with a child-centered approach. Our goal is to create an environment where children feel safe, loved, and accepted. We believe that each child is a unique individual with their own strengths and needs, and we are dedicated to fostering their growth socially, intellectually, and physically.
Our philosophy is grounded in the belief that children learn best through hands-on experiences. By engaging in activities that involve working, playing, and having fun with their peers and teachers, children develop essential skills and knowledge. We aim to provide opportunities for children to take pride in their projects, with activities that vary in complexity to support their development. Some projects are designed to be completed independently, while others challenge their abilities and may require minimal teacher assistance.
Objective 1: Emphasizing the Learning Process
At Red Apple Academy, we place a strong emphasis on the learning process rather than focusing solely on the final product. Our goal is to provide children with meaningful experiences that prioritize exploration, experimentation, and perseverance. By immersing children in activities that encourage curiosity and creativity, we foster an environment where they can actively engage with their learning journey.
Objective 2: Fostering Resilience and Growth
We are dedicated to helping children develop resilience and a growth mindset. Our approach involves allowing children to try new things, face challenges, and learn from their experiences. By supporting them through the process of attempting, sometimes failing, trying again, and ultimately succeeding, we help build their confidence and problem-solving skills. This focus on personal growth equips children with the tools they need to navigate future challenges with determination and optimism.
Red Apple Academy was founded in 1999 by Sheri Meverden, inspired by a growing need for high-quality early childhood education in Northern Lake County. Our original vision was to create a nurturing environment where young children could thrive and develop through a well-rounded educational experience.
Initially located in Falling Waters, Lindenhurst, Illinois, our preschool operated with five classrooms, providing a solid foundation for early learning. As we continued to grow and evolve, we relocated to our current location within the Millburn School District. This move allowed us to expand our focus on individualized learning, now offering two classrooms designed to cater more specifically to each child's unique needs and developmental stage.
Through the years, Red Apple Academy has remained dedicated to its core mission of fostering a supportive and engaging environment for young learners. Our journey reflects our commitment to adapting and improving in order to better serve the children and families in our community.
